Complete List of CBSE Class 10 Maths Topics Removed for 2025 Exams

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has updated the Class 10 Mathematics syllabus for 2025. Along with syllabus changes, certain topics and chapters have been removed to make learning more focused and manageable for students appearing in the upcoming board exams.

Why CBSE Removed Topics from Class 10 Maths?

CBSE revises the syllabus regularly to:

  • Reduce unnecessary load on students.
  • Focus more on important concepts and problem-solving.
  • Align with the latest National Education Policy (NEP) guidelines.
  • Encourage application-based learning instead of rote memorization.

CBSE Class 10 Maths Deleted Syllabus

CBSE has not introduced any major changes to the latest 2025 Maths Class 10 syllabus. Thus, students can refer to the previous year's textbooks and other study material freely. To get a clear idea of which topics are no longer covered in the CBSE Class 10 Maths syllabus, check the table below:

ChapterTopics
REAL NUMBERS

Euclid’s division lemma

Decimal representation of rational numbers in terms of terminating/non-terminating recurring decimals.

POLYNOMIALSStatement and simple problems on division algorithm for polynomials with real coefficients.
PAIR OF LINEAR EQUATIONS IN TWO VARIABLESSimple problems on equations reducible to linear equations.
QUADRATIC EQUATIONSNo Deletion

Proofs of the following theorems are deleted:

  • If a perpendicular is drawn from the vertex of the right angle of a right triangle to the hypotenuse, the triangles on each side of the perpendicular are similar to the whole triangle and to each other.
  • The ratio of the areas of two similar triangles is equal to the ratio of the squares of their corresponding sides.
  • In a right triangle, the square on the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares on the other two sides.
  • In a triangle, if the square on one side is equal to sum of the squares on the other two sides, the angles opposite to the first side is a right angle.
